Wendy MacGown started her career as a software developer, then moved on to tech support, product management, and course development and delivery. Her last twenty-plus years in tech were devoted to tech writing and gamized learning. Now retired, she writes what she wants.
Wendy believes in the power of other writer edits. She moderates the Witch City Writer’s Workshop Meetup (Salem, MA), and collaborates in a small edit group as the results of a Writer’s Grotto novel writing workshop. She attended the 2023 San Francisco Writer’s Conference, and attended Boston Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Club meetups for years.

- Little Sister and The Crystal Fishbowl won honorable mention at the Arizona Author’s Association’s 2005 Literary Contest.
- Little Sister was a finalist for ForWord Magazine’s 2006 Book of the Year contest.
Science Fiction
Books in the Mechanized Series won prizes at the Halloween Book Festival before they were even published.

Short Stories
Wendy was one of 10 winners of the 1990 Essex County Newspaper, Northshore Magazine’s holiday season short story contest, with “The Gift.”

Wendy won several Society for Technical Communication awards for merit, excellence, and distinction.
